Argentina Independence Day is one of the most cherished holidays in the country and is celebrated on the 9th of July every year. It is on this day that Argentinians remember their identity and the struggles they went through to gain freedom.

The History of Argentina’s Independence

Argentina gained its independence from Spanish rule on the 9th of July, 1816, during the Congress of Tucumán.

The congress took place in San Miguel de Tucumán, a northern city in Argentina. Representatives from a number of provinces attended and signed the Declaration of Independence which legally detached them from Spain.
